Expanding the Canon of Epic Horror Novels: THE MIDDLE REACHES
Horror novel The Middle Reaches, Cycle One: Shadow Man is still in the cradle. Nevertheless, Horrific Scribblings spawned Cycle Two: A Rift in Time and Space today. It is available on Amazon. The few who have begun this epic dark fantasy / horror series can now continue into the story’s tormented realms. Watch for signed copies of both short novels (or long novellas, take your pick) to appear in the shop soon.
Wiser marketing might involve a longer pause between releases. But The Middle Reaches, however disconcerting its structure, is a single–and complete–story. I broke it into four small books because its epic scope also involves epic length. Despite the sprawl, brave readers who survive all the weirdness and horror to the very end might feel a pleasant shock as most of the chopped-up novel’s many, many threads meet resolution. I am eager to shock you with the finished tapestry.
(And even though this volume makes four books from me so far this year, I won’t finish rolling out titles after the epic conclusion of The Middle Reaches. I therefore see no reason to sit on my hands.)
Starting Cycle Two might feel like hitting a wall. It begins with all new characters in a moment years before the events of Cycle One. It might at first feel like a sequel to a horror novel rather than an ongoing horror series or unified tale. The new characters will, however, encounter familiar people and places. In ways they might not understand, they will continue the journey into dark fantasy and horror begun in Shadow Man.
