Seven Horrorku (Horror Haiku)
by Lena Ng

tippetty tapping
gleeful posthumous dancing
by skeletal feet
black eyes on white face
entrails of her rotting dress
dragging behind her
we talked about love
how it lived, died, and rotted
much like your body
wringing of her hands
weeping in the nursery
silence from the crib

a man tips his hat
I risk a glance back at him
he fades into dusk
glassy, staring eyes
blood pooling on mottled skin
alive with maggots
cold, shivering winds
creaking swings in the playground
empty of children
