Submissions Challenge!
Do you want to improve your chance of acceptance? If your work is accepted, do you want it (and you along with it) to receive special promotion and be part of an exclusive, themed Exhibit? Do you want to show off your awesome, versatile talent?
Respond to a Horrific Scribes Submissions Challenge!
We’re always open to general submissions of the sorts described in the main submission guidelines, but we’re also usually on the hunt for something in particular. Right now, for instance…

Stories submitted to qualify for Phase One of this challenge should really be about a December holiday in some manner, not merely set on a holiday that is otherwise irrelevant. Evil creatures connected to holidays are fine, but we seek the unconventional–please no slasher Santas, Krampus tales, or other familiar fare. We plan to do a special Exhibit of December holiday horror stories near the end of the month. Submit stories for Phase One no later than December 15.
Stories submitted to qualify for Phase Two of this challenge should relate to the idea that the new year brings with it an/the apocalypse. We’re particularly interested in the apocalyptic fears that defined the transition into the current millennium, but we’re open to other ideas for our Exhibit of apocalyptic horrors in January. Submit stories for Phase Two no later than January 15.
Otherwise, submissions for the challenge should follow all the regular submission guidelines, including the final step of submitting via this Google form: https://forms.gle/nrqoWsY1iY3dZphq8
