Introducing Briar’s Horrific Blog

Happy Halloween and WELCOME to Briar’s Horrific Blog!

This post is the very first, and unless a clown or a masked killer or a dream demon murders me tonight, it won’t be the last.

Now, you’re probably wondering, “who even are you?”

Let’s start with an introduction: I’m Briar Shannon, and I’m an Editorial Assistant for Horrific Scribblings (along with H.J. and Jack, whom you can learn more about here). So, while being an EA to the provocative, scary, and strange is my *entire* personality at the moment, you should know that I have seven or eight others, and some of them will be contributing to the blog.

I’ll introduce you to a few…

Horrific Briar loves all things horror—from books to movies to haunted houses (which, she thinks, should be a year-round thing). She even travelled to Bangor, where she not only took the official Stephen King tour, but she also made up her own tour. Maybe she’ll post about it sometime.

Crazy Cat Lady Briar is actually a crazy animal lady, but that didn’t sound as good. She’s got four cats and a dog, all of whom will likely appear on Horrific Scribblings’ Instagram stories (along with Andrew’s cat, Loomy). She’s also got 10 chickens. One of them is a cannibal. None of them likes being photographed.

Scribe Briar has written professionally in the corporate world for a long time but is newer to fiction writing. Her first story was published here by Horrific Scribblings, and that was before she inquired about the team and subsequently joined it. She loves it here.

Publishing Expert Br— Oops, nope, she doesn’t exist yet!

I know next to nothing about publishing aside from what I’ve learned (thus far) working with Andrew. So, you know, if you’re looking for any sort of expertise, and think you’re not in the right place…

Because as part of the blog—and my own learning journey, which I’m very excited about—I plan to interview established writers and publishing professionals. These interview posts will be sporadic at first (I mean, I only know so many people) and mixed in with posts about the craft of writing, the horror genre, Horrific Scribblings itself, and, well, whatever the people want.
